With so many New Year’s Eve party nights in Manchester UK you will not be disappointed if you make this your destination on January 31st.
Whether you are looking for a family day out, or an adult’s only celebration, there is something for everyone in this great city.
By day, the UK’s largest indoor Winter Wonderland is at Event City, next to the Trafford Centre. With many rides and attractions this is perfect for kids. They might also enjoy skating, either on the Trafford Centre’s Ice Rink, or at Spinningfields.
There are Panto’s too: Dick Whittington at the Opera House and Robin Hood at the Lowry, Salford. Other shows include The War Horse at the Lowry, or West Side Story at the Palace Theater. The Bridgewater Hall has a Musicals Gala night, with favourites ranging from Oklahoma and the Wizard of Oz to Cats and Les Mis.
For adults, the clubbing scene is alive and well in Manchester. You can re-live the old days at the Albert Hall for the Hacienda New Year’s Eve party in Manchester, where Frankie Knuckles and Todd Terry will be supported by the likes of Graeme Park and 808 State. Or the Bowlers Exhibition Centre has several arenas devoted to House and Old Skool, both live bands and Djs.
Veteran DJ Mr Scruff will be keeping it Unreal at Band on the Wall. His marathon sets, varied music and homemade visuals should guarantee a good evening out. Or why not head for Tiger Tiger where party night spreads over three floors, with DJs from Capital FM keeping you in the groove. The Liar’s Club Tiki Bar is also guaranteeing a fun night, with fiery cocktails and entertainment.
If you want something a bit more sophisticated, Italian Restaurant Cibo is staging a Venetian Masquerade Ball in Didsbury. Tickets are £60 including wine and food. Suede also has a Masquerade Ball with live musicians and XXX dancers, and Hallmark Hotel not far from the airport are having a Shimmer and Sparkle ball which sounds absolutely perfect.
At Proof, in Chorlton, you can dress up as anything beginning with ‘P’ and make a p**t of yourself. Or return to the Jazz Age at the Liquor Store on Deansgate for a Great Gatsby evening.
Afraid you’ll be skint after Christmas? Then head for the Northern Quarter for a budget night out. Cord Bar and Noho are both offering free entry, while TV21 is offering entertainment based on film and TV, with the chance of a bit of celeb spotting.
If that’s your idea of fun, you might also be lucky at Bijou on Deansgate.
Fancy a flutter to see in the New Year? Manchester 235 has wining and dining, entertainment and gaming, while the Grosvenor Casino in Salford is staging a Soul and Motown show. Or you could have an evening of Bowling, music and entertainment at the Dog Bar for just a fiver.
To see in the New Year sky high £50 buys you a ticket to float on Cloud 23, the glamorous high-rise cocktail bar in the Hilton Hotel. There you can view the whole of Manchester laid out before you in glittering lights. But whatever your taste and purse, this city is a great place to be on the 31st.
